So it’s that time of year again, new schools to uniform, new friends to make, and new rules to navigate, yes school’s in for summer and what a scorcher it’s been so far. In a break from what’s become the new normal, and in an attempt to prize my 4, 5 and 7 year olds away from their devices, I thought that a spot of dead dinosaur hunting whilst practicing the art of social distancing might change it up a little. ‘Cause of course I’ve still got it (cool emoji), I’m still hip (thumbs up emoji), and who doesn’t like fossils (shrug emoji)?
Well it seems that school‘s out for dad, as the only lesson learned on this trip was that the kids know best. No dead dinosaurs later, of course no people, and unfortunately no respite from the relentless heat (44 degrees C, with no shade) all to the accompaniment of, its too hot daddy, and the standard, can we go home now. Like Ross from Friends it seems that I like dinosaurs more than most, when they show up; unlike Ross from Friends, I get ribbed by my offspring over ice water and Fortnite, instead of lattes, Pheobe and Rachel. Winning!
Well yes I am winning, ‘cause daddy did get the kids out, daddy did get a glimpse of where dinosaurs once roamed, and daddy did get one shot, not with Pheobe and Rachel, better than that, with the friends that I’ve made for life. My babies. Check out our episode of Friends below for an inspired approach to dealing with the new normal “The One Where They Did Social Distancing“.
